I got the Entiat-C buck tag and I need a little help:)
« on: June 14, 2009, 11:20:39 AM »
My name is Sandy and I have been bowhunting for 3 yrs. and have not shot a deer yet, thanks to the "no doe's". I found out yesterday that I amazingly got the Entiat-C buck tag, unit 247, for Nov 21-30, 2009. I don't know much about the unit, I have been there once on a 1 day scouting trip. Can anyone please help with any info that would help a lady bowhunter out? I would appreciate it, thank you:)

There will be lots of deer in the lower part of the unit at that time of year. You'll just need to be prepared for snow and bad roads.

How much snow is usually in that unit in Nov.? I've heard of Crum Canyon from an article I read, is that a good area to get into?

I sent you a private message, but yeah, Crum Canyon would be a good area as that is about as low as you can get, and there should be plenty of deer down in there by the end of November. I think the snow varies a lot depending on the year. There's no telling how much there will be. Probably a good chance of having a couple of feet up higher anyway.

Because he's only 13, but has the body of a 55? year old. :chuckle:  No, seriously, nobody really understands why Iceman does anything? :chuckle:

Hi Sandythebow...

Many of us regulars on the site get a bit steamed when newbies show up and ask for help a bit too soon I guess....  Free world, do as you wish, but we want to get to know a guy before sharing too much info. We also like when folks share specific details in a private email so that good intel on an area is not posted openly, often flooding the area with new hunters....

I hope you know what I am trying to say. We do have an Introductions thread where guys have been posting personal info about themselves..... also nice to hear a bit about a fella before some give too much info...

The other issue many of us find frustrating is someone applying for special hunts that they know little about. Many feel that the chance of getting drawn is shot to hell by so many people applying, and when they do get a quality tag like yours, they have no or little idea about how to begin to hunt it.

Dont get me wrong, and I am sure I speak for many on the issue here, we want you to succeed....we just want folks like yourself to sort of work your way up to getting good help. Personally, until I know a guy pretty good, I am not giving info. This way I avoid helping someone who may not deserve my assistance.

Welcome to the site.

i think he's showing his frustration because every year about this time new members open up an account then instantly start asking about great spots to start their hunts without saying  :hello: and getting to know the site first....make sense?
