The other issue many of us find frustrating is someone applying for special hunts that they know little about. Many feel that the chance of getting drawn is shot to hell by so many people applying, and when they do get a quality tag like yours, they have no or little idea about how to begin to hunt it.

I often apply for units I "know little about." Other than what I've heard about it from others who have hunted it and the information I've gleaned from reading the harvest reports every year. If I see success rates of over 90% consistently year after year, I am almost without a doubt that it will be a good hunt if I am lucky enough to draw it. It's also not hard to figure out what some of the best hunts are by looking at the number of applicants. Why shouldn't people apply for those, even if they're not familiar with the unit? After all, you have 4 choices, why not put 4 choices down?

I see nothing wrong with asking for help on a unit that one has never hunted. If people don't want to help, they don't have to. I don't know why so many times on here new posters have to be treated with so much disrespect for simply asking a question. Well that's just my  :twocents:

Iceman admit it, you're just mad because you didn't draw an Entiat permit, correct?   :dunno:

Thanks bobcat for the help. If I can talk my mom into going with me, I'll make another scouting trip over there(Entiat). I don't dare go alone. It look's like I'll be spending the 4th. of July weekend over there for sure. I am in a group, but hunt on my own, I am the only female, if you know what I mean(potty breaks). I figure these guys have been there and scouted, but I haven't done much scouting over there, I don't like going on long drives alone...Sandy.

Kind of a sore subject around here this time of year.  Congrats on the draw and I hope you have a good hunt.  Stick around and enjoy the site.  We'd love to hear from you.  You are also a minority around here so the bowhunting gals would love the extra addition.

Congrats on the tag, wish you thet best of luck. My wife hunts also so I know what it is like for you girls trying to do it all on your own. Wish you the best hunting season ever. Take lots of pics for the poor saps that did not get drawn so you can show them off this fall.

Sandy, You need to drive up the hill to Tieton and pay me a visit. I've had that tag twice in the last 5 years. Both times (the 1st year it went to draw and last year) there wasn't even a skiff of snow. Bring your maps with you and I'll help you out.

Once you get past the orchard, the road can be iffy when there is ice or snow. I would advise you put chains on about 3 miles up. If the weather (snow) is halfway decent, you should make it up to the plateau. That house you see in the distance to the the north, I have heard feeds the deer in winter.
You can take the the entiat road to the store and ask. Sometimes there are people there that will give good advice.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

Use your scout trip to familiarize yourself with the roads and stuff but the deer you will be hunting are far from there now and you may get pretty discouraged if you are looking for the bucks you will be seeing in Nov. Its a fun hunt , open country ,long shots and lots of blown stocks. Hunting with a buddy helps a bunch. nwhunter

Elkstuffer, wow were neighbors almost, just what 5 miles apart. I live on S. Naches Rd. just before the bridge. Have you been to Walkabout? They have awesome bacon cheese burgers. I'm looking for an Entiat GMU, I have a map of that area, but it's not the best, I got it a few months ago when we went up to Entiat scouting. The help would be very appreciated:) Thank you.
