nwhunter, we went up on April 11,2009 and spent from 8 am-almost dark running around up there. I saw a ton of deer. I took some pic's(don't know how, yet to put any on here). It was awesome! I haven't seen that many deer since I was down in the Grayback(Soda Springs Rd). I know I won't see much of anything, just need to know my way around.LOL. Thanks for the help:)

I had this tag last year, and hunted the first 8 days. I'll send you a PM and share what I know...

huntnphool, I hope so, and I hope to fill that tag. It would be great if my first animal was a nice buck for my wall:)

great tag , Its my firsty choice . I had it a few years back and went in blind , after hunting on the chelan side for three days I found crumb . If theres snow in there its really good ( knox rock ) . If i get that tag again and theres snoew in there . i'll snow shoe in and tent camp it can bee that good . i saw a buck in there two years back that I still dream about no *censored* 34 or so. Work hard it will be worth it . I liked it when it was dec 1-8.if no snow look up on top of potato creek . Good luck . It gats crunchy make sure your bottom pin is on the money.Coach

I drew that tag last year - got unlucky with unseasonably warm weather and no snow. Having said that, I saw over 100 bucks during my hunt (probably a few of them were bucks that I saw more than once) with a couple of really nice ones. I pulled my bow back on 7 different bucks, 4 of them 4 points and the rest 3 points because I promised myself that I would either eat the tag or shoot a big one. I blew the stalk at 53 yards on the biggest buck (that was NICE buck) because I was running out of daylight and hurried too much (the kind of blown stalk that leaves a guy in tears).
In order to see all the bucks, I hunted from daylight to dark every day of the season, didn't take "lunch breaks" to go back to camp in the middle of the day and, after the first weekend, found some steep, nasty stuff that really couldn't be seen from a road (not too many places like that in this unit) that some bigger bucks were hanging out in. It takes endless patience and, in my experience, really good spotting scope/binos to get the job done - it will make your job a lot easier if there is some snow on the ground, though. The largest bucks that I saw were a long ways away and laying down with just antlers sticking out of the grass in areas with lots of burned trees and blowdown.
If you're not as picky as I was you should do well (nothing wrong with a big 3 point or a medium 4 point - if I ever draw again I might have trouble being that selective a second time.) If you just want a doe (I think it's still any deer, isn't it?) you should be able to pick one out close to a road.
I'll send a PM.

I don't even want to hear that ,if your after a doe crap. If you aren't after a trophy buck with that tag put in for another unit.
I am not insulting the original poster, my opinion is that if you put in for trophy units hunt trophy animals.
Good luck on your hunt.
