"Venom" 9mm ammo review
« on: April 18, 2024, 12:14:05 PM »
Here's one I took for the team...  I purchased a couple boxes of "Venom" brand 115g 9mm practice ammo some time back, and thought I should try it out before dumping the boxes into one of my ammo cans.  I shot one of the boxes over the last couple of days and the results are in...  For failure drills, pretty good stuff.  For target practice, not so much.  In my G19, 9 of 50 failed to fire, with good primer strikes.  I did get two of those 9 rounds to fire on a second or third attempt.  And I know what you're thinking, yes I confirmed the function of my pistol by shooting a bunch of cheap Winchester steel cased ammo afterwards with no issues.  You're welcome.

Thanks for the review!

I use to buy "practice Ammo" because it was cheaper. Then I would get so frustrated with the accuracy, I felt it was counterproductive and a determent to becoming proficient. Now I practice mostly with what I want loaded with it hits the fire.
I still have a supply of "paper punchers" that i only use when doing technique drills, and accuracy is secondary.
I do alternate between decent ammo, depending on the price I find.

Hornady Critical Defense, etc...
