I setup one of the bucket feeders 3 weeks ago and spread some apple flavoured salt out with it. I came back and found I have 10,000 pictures to sift through.

A few does coming through here and there... but this young buck has found the feeder and practically lives on it. From 30 min before sunset to maybe 45 min or so after sunrise he does not leave. Like 99% of the pictures are of this one buck  :chuckle:

Sometimes throwing some bait backfires.  I get the same thing, some little dink doe or small buck will camp out and load up my cards.....

Still working on it ,is where I'm at.
I did check all the winter cams, got a few carry over bucks from last year. Nothing really out of the normal.
Few bear pics also ,I'd say some areas I'm in.
Bears came out of hybernation around late March, beginning of April.

Been working on new cams,in new spots.
Those are the ones that have me most excited.
At the same time ,a lot of what if goes along with that.
I plan to set and forget most these cameras.
So I won't return till August or September, which I have no clue what will happen.
Bears could rip down the cam.
Memory card fill up, batteries die, get bashed or stolen.
Salt/minerals ate up from moose.

Part of the fun I guess ,all the what if.
All the cams have new batteries, a 16 or 32 gigabyte card.
Will see if they can last three months till I return.
I will view the most recent pics, make a decision to pull the cam,or leave and maintain that spot.
I have spent more time and money then I ever have in the past.
I will most likely spend my entire bear season checking/pulling cams with a rifle in hand.
My wife is usually very supportive, has said I've fell off the crazy train this year.
I'm only about half done, her and I are about sick of it.

If I do share pics with HW it won't happen till bear season august/September.

Goodluck , Happy camera hunting to all .

unfortunately its all for nothing if the cam fails, batts die, sd card fills or a critter messes up cam waiting to check that long. Had way to many scenarios over the last 20 years with cams to ever leave that long. 3 weeks to a month is the longest a cam gets left in the warm months for me not including winter where some just get left due to snow and if they work thats great.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Roll the dice,7 or 11.
Most cams will last much longer then 3 weeks to a month.
I will say ,you do you, check it daily or monthly.
Fresh batterys,32 gigabyte card, and a cable lock for the bears and people. 3 month soak shouldn't be a problem.

I'll will say this though,I have so many cams that if I checked monthly,I would spend every weekend, every spare day of my time checking them.  That's not how I want to spend my summer.
So I will double down on my gas money and time and wait till bear season opens.  Few cams I might even wait till deer season to check them. I'll be there hunting anyway.
I may take your advice a check a few that are not five mile hike in.
Or go in rotation and check some of the first ones I put out for the year.

Pulled a camera I had set for two weeks on some public. There's 2.5k photos of deer coming through almost all in daylight  :chuckle:

It's feeling like this might be the spot for sept.

SPOT ON. When our logging roads open up for motorized I run cams up during late Nov for a winter soak. 6-12 miles in so, it sux to ride the bikes in early spring to a dead cam lol

I put a cam up on a property that we have an access to for a bear damage hunt. It's the same property that I got a bear and deer from last year. There's plenty of damage right where the deer are passing through but, I haven't caught a bear on camera yet.

Had a camera out since January. Change batteries and sd card every few weeks. So far I've got cougar, bear, bobcat, deer, and tons of coyotes on camera. This is on a rarely used Port Blakely walk in spot. It's only a 10 min walk from the road, but with a small inconvenient spot to park, almost nobody goes back there. Good spot.  Time stamp is off on some of the pics. All are from this year.

When I inevitably choke to death on gummy bears, I’d simply like it said that I was “killed by bears”, and leave it at that

The cougar was in a spot a couple hundred yards down the trail.

I hate to say it.
But your spot on correct, right as rain.
Freaking king me ,RIGHT.
You are correct huntnnw

Went and checked a cam yesterday.
One of the first I put up,it stopped working middle of May.
Lost a whole month worth of pics
Some of these new spots I've been playing with, these deer have never seen a mineral site. So they are blowing up my camera.
I slapped up another cam. I'm gonna have to go back to some of the cams that are getting a 1000 pics a day. Set a delay, with one photo burst. So the camera isn't getting blasted like that.
Even though the camera was getting hit hard, not sure if I got a corrupted SD card or what. Cause it only had 8k pics ,but stopped working. I should of been able to hold another 8k. Battery not dead, put new battery in when put up. Sometimes these cameras just take a dump.
