I’ll ad some hunt photos on this thread.

Made it to Idaho for a quick trip as I only got 3 days to hunt there as we are headed to WY for elk. Night of the 2nd day I ended up making a 45 min run to a ridge to be in position to shoot before dark. Got there with a hour of light left and buck was still in same spot. There was a small 4pt and a doe also with him as they seem to be rutting as they would not leave doe alone. At 481 yards I squeezed off a shot and couldn’t find him immediately but did see the doe and 4pt looking at something behind a tree. I thought he was down, but he was and could see him moving. After a minute or 2 he walks out the other side and looked like he wasn’t hit. I shoot again and this time a face full of dirt from brake and lost sight and look around and spot him 100 yards down an extremely steep hill qtr at me and looking around . I’m wondering if my gun is messed up . I shoot again and hear an extremely loud “ crack” . Deer is gone but I see a pine tree shaking for 30 seconds and stop. I figured he rolled into it. Well after a big hike to just get to him it’s pitch black and I find him in a ravine that was unbelievable steep and thick. I realize what that “ crack “ was! Hit his beam and blew off a 8” extra tine that was on outside of his right beam. After a hour of trying to get buck out of hole so I could break him down with paracord everywhere   :chuckle: I realize the first 2 shots were perfect . The goats and I made it back to our spike camp at 11:50 pm

Awesome deer!!  Sometimes those big mulies can take bullets and keep trucking, they are tuff animals.  What caliber / bullet combo were you using?

300 prc 215 Bergers . Bullet that hit beam exited on bottom side and still hit buck . There was punctures all down back and shoulder.  Plus the large majority of bullet hit the front side of hindquarter

Nice buck! Was trying to get my son on a good buck, 3 miles on the boots in there and we find a good 4x buck.. a 4 wheeler showed up at the absolute most horrible timing and moved him out, tried to find him again about an hour later and we Seen him leave the other does and follow one doe way into another drainage, he stuck right with her. Made me think she was smelling better than the rest of the does.
