My 10 year old daughter passed hunters safety last week and we bought her license. She wanted to go coyote hunting. Today we went out to a friends property, who’s neighbor has a couple dead cows in the back of his property. We did a calling setup with no luck. Glassed pretty heavily and spotted one bedded on the neighbors side. Not interested in calls because of his full belly. He eventually walked off and another appeared. Same thing. I continued glassing and spotted one bedded on the creek bank behind a single section of wheel line. We stalked in and got setup on the fence waiting for him to get up. He was 187 yards away. I tried a few different sounds to get him to stand but he was perfectly content where he was. Finally he got up and stretched but laid back down. After an hour of waiting, he got up, walked to the west and cleared the pipe. I stopped him and said if you’re on him and steady, shoot. BOOM! The 6.6 PRC with 147 gr. ELDM barked and the coyote dropped! She was estatic! So proud of her, her first hunt for herself, first shot with this gun, and first shot at an animal other than Eurasian doves and she nailed it!

What a great first hunt for her! Congratulations to you both.
