I’ve been using a 30-06 pretty much exclusively for the last five years and I live and hunt in Alaska now.

 Can load lighter weight bullets for smaller game and even the 165gr+ that everyone seems to think you have to have fired out of the 30 cals.

 I’ve never needed more than one bullet fired from my 7mm, and I’ve shot more than a couple decent critters in my life!

I agree with all of your statement.
7mm mag is the most underrated older cartridge.
With all the fancy bullets and powder it can really be loaded up.

I like the analogy of using properly sized wrenches to get the job done correctly. Myself, I prefer ViseGrips. Therefore, 30/06 for everything

In that case... 6.5 PRC, 270, 280, 280AI, 7mm mags (any of them), 308, 30-06, 300 mags (any of them), 325 WSM, 338 mags... to name a few.

Thinking about converting the 6.5 CM to a 6 CM to get a few hundred FPS more out of it. 7” less drop at 500 with it. That with 108 ELD-M’s and a .223 with 77gr TMK’s for everything.

I was going to do the same thing....then I decided to run an 80 grain bullet in my creedmoor at just shy of 3700 fps.  It is pretty amazing and super flat shooting.  When I burn the barrel out, I may make the switch to 6mm creed.

I agree and mine is the first one I grab, BUT.......
packing a 6.5 cm is sure a ton nicer and it helps me feel like I'm minimizing my global footprint.
