2 more finished, ready for sheathing...
« on: June 15, 2009, 07:57:00 AM »
Finished up these two and am ready to build sheaths for them...

First one is an ATS34 Stainless modified Outfitter. One piece of Desert Ironwood with black spacers and brass hardware. Check out the contour of the grip/butt and the lanyard position... went kinda one-off on it!

Second one is an old time Green River Buffalo Skinner knock-off, built from D2. It's gripped with super tough rubber and pinned with twine! First time ever for that grip! Super working knife.

Neither of these fit in the availailable blades thread, because they're both completely one-off, custom designed and requested by their new owners! They were built "To-Order," from blank billet steel, to what you see here.

Both are convex ground single bevel, and absolutely razor sharp!

Thanks for keeping tabs on me!

Okay I want that skinner, that is a great looking knife!!! I use to use one very similar trapping.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

I just wanted to thank you for an outstanding job on the knife you created for Teacherman.  He has only seen pictures so far but it is one of the prettiest knife I've ever seen.  A picture does not let a person see the dramatic design that the etched Damascus steel created.  It is fairly sharp too. :IBCOOL: :rockin:

Dang, very sweet looking knives.  I can not wait to be able to afford a couple of custom knives...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Can you get the skinner style blade in really good steel?  Would love to get a really nice working blade.

That D2 is freaking awesome steel, it's just not stainless. It's so dense that it's got excellent stain resistance for a carbon.

I didn't want to pin it with brass or nickle since they might start to bite the hand after years of use. I pinned it with twine and melted the ends to the rubber. The twine and rubber welded and should be that way forever!

Yes, I got my new one the other day and it is a beauty. It has a very good feel and it sharp as hell...

Thanks Steve, as usual another work of art.

hey Rasbo,  you really don't want that knife.  Tell ya what I'll take it off of your hands at half price.  That way your left with the feeling that you bought something.  Think of the benefits, never having to clean it, never being afraid of losing it,  and I wouldn't even mind doing you this great favor.
