Lets Talk Boat Concealment and Stuff

From camo netting to pop up blind to DIY. What do you use for concealment when you are hunting from your boat? What brands do you like or dislike and why? What else do you have in the boat that you love or find essential. I just got back into the duck boat game after a few years and starting over. Post pics of your set up. This could be a great thread
Only a few months until opener!!!

The best thing you can do is conceal the boat and hunt from land. No matter how good your concealment is, if you shift to fart you will wiggle the boat and broadcast ripples all around you which will give away your position. I usually only hunt from the actual boat if I'm in the bay and the tide comes in too high (or if im being extremely lazy, but usually results in worse success).
I have a "PopUp" blind that I have mixed feelings about. It latches in the front and is lever activated, which caused the whole top to fly back and out of the way. You can also latch it and shoot from the windows, or half latch it and get like 3 feet all the way across to shoot from. The material came without loops or webbing so I had to tie off a bunch of paracord loops and attach it myself to brush it in with multi-color raffia. The concealment on it is pretty great like this, but it needs to be brushed back in every few hunts since it gets tangled on everything.
Must have, safety stuff. Floatation devices, signals, etc. Push pole for trying to sneak on birds without the motor going. Anchors in front and back to back anchor when hunting tides and rivers.

I purposely rock my boat to ripple the water. Duck death sentence on calm days.

I’m in the same position. Boat is ready to hunt but I need to add paint, blind, or?
With no dog, I’m worried about having to drop the blind to retrieve birds.

I hunted out of a guys boat that had the Banded blind. I like it because it had total coverage over the top and could adjust the side height. However it seemed chaotic putting the whole thing up and down...maybe that is just the deal with boat blinds

I put this on my 16' sled last year and then added rafia. I only hunted out of it once but it worked well. The thing I liked most was the easy up and down for the dog and/or having to chase a cripple. I typically hunt from the shore on the Columbia, but the last few years the water level has been very low much of the time leaving our blind areas too far from the water. I plan on using it more this coming year as the daily situation dictates, however I would prefer to hunt from the shore.

I hunt out of my kayak a lot if that counts.
Only thing I did was spray paint my kayak a dull brown. Birds don't seem to care about the kayak I think, they care more about seeing me.
I'm with ducks4days on this. If you can climb out of the boat and hide it things go much better.
Aside from safety gear I keep a worn out dry bag around to put birds in. Easily rinseable and helps keep the non-hunters at the launch areas from seeing dead birds.

I ended up with a bunch of angle iron so made a couple hoop frames with snap hooks and old clothes line so I could raise and lower. In the lowered position they were out of the way.
Covered it with some light weight cut camo that was ‘supposed to be’ UV resistant. It started falling apart after a couple years, but I digress.
I sewed in strong magnets in panels I cut in the top and sides where they joined together.
It worked well. We got a fair number of birds using the boat. We would wedge up against reed if they were available, or just anchor close to shore.
We have a ‘Doggie Dock’ (floating chute type dog ramp) that is also camo we would put out in the middle of the boat for the dogs to climb in and out of the boat.
The cloth shooting panels could be pulled down or stood up into to push it them open.
Pic of the dogs that jumped into it when I was doing maintenance on it. They were always ready to go!

I use an Avery blind on my sled. Simple die cut camo on the blind and a burlap skirt that hangs to the water.
. I dress it up with natural grass laying around. Since the areas I use it have tall brushy shorelines I only have one side installed to cut down on weight.
