Seekins Havok or Bergara Mg lite?
« on: May 22, 2024, 08:32:44 AM »
Looking for a backcountry gun in 7prc with 1:8 twist. I'll have handloaded bergers. Looking to kill elk and deer at 600-700. I've researched myself in circles. I've gone back and forth between a few guns. Currently eye balling the seekins havok element.

https://seekinsprecision.com/rifles-new/havak-bolt-rifles/havak-element.html

I also really like the idea of a folding stock. So the bergara mg lite is also on the list.

https://www.bergara.online/us/rifles/bergara-premier-rifles/mglite-rifle/

My budget is ideally no more than about $3k and it'll be topped with a nightforce nx8.

Anyone have knowledge, experience, or opinions? Thanks!

I would go Seekins if you want a quality rifle and great customer service.  I saw a lot of negative reviews or pissed of buyers with the other brands mentioned.  Not with Seekins.
I just picked up a Element in 300 prc.  It is extremely light. I can let you know more after I get some time on the range with it, but everyone I know with one raves about their accuracy.

I would go with Seekins. When I purchase my next rifle it will be a Seekins. Visited a lot of gun manufacturers at the expo in Utah. For the price you can’t beat there product. They stand behind it no matter what. Everything but the butt pad is made in house in Lewiston.

Lots of great options our there in that chambering these days.  Given the two options, I would go with the seekins.  I will qualify this by saying, I have only fondled them in the store a couple times, but boy do they feel good.

If your considering other options, I don't think you could go wrong with the Savage ultralight, Savage KLYM or the 110 ultralite elite.  I own two ultralites and they consistently shoot fantastic.  I can't wait to fondle the KLYM.....it may be my next rifle.

I have seen the Seekins in North 40, not sure if you have one close to you.  They are swamped with orders right now though

Have you compared how much the magazines cost and how readily available they are?

The mags are carbon fiber and function well. Their customer service is excellent. My vote is also Seekins.

Thanks for all the input. Just ordered the seekins with an extra mag. Got the night force coming as well. I'm going to try out the berger 175 elite hunter hybrid and the 180 match hybrid target. I'll post an update on how she shoots after I get it put together and find a load.
