You're 19 and drew those tags, how many points did you have for each?

10 for both goat and moose

and 4 for elk (archery)

Yes that would just suck to draw mountain goat and moose tags in the same year wouldn't it?

Yeah, I agree, it wouldn't suck to draw all those tags, would certainly be nerve wracking for me trying to organize it all and maximize the outcomes for each tag.  But hey at 19, he could not fill one of those OIL tags and be back in the drawing and stand a realistic chance of drawing again.  But truly I would imagine the odds of drawing those three tags in one year is astronomical.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Actually drawing all of those tags at this point in my life could not have worked out any better, taking a little break from college in the fall lets me hunt everyday from opening day goat to the end of moose season. I was freaking out at first how I was going to get all of those hunts in at the same time but after not getting drawn for any out of state tags and sitting down really looking at dates it’s going to work out just fine

Ballpark gameplan
Goat archery Sep 1-5
Elk 8-14/15 (7 days then I’m done ill get drawn again)
Goat rifle 15-oct 1 (hopefully I can get it done/lots of scouting)
Moose 1-Nov 30

The thing I’ve been struggling with is scouting time, I have been spending all of my time lately with goats and elk (same area) and have not done much at all with the moose which has got me a little worried.

10 for both goat and moose

Your parents started applying for you at 9? You passed the test pretty early, congrats.

If it was me I would forget the elk scouting, or assign it to a buddy or family member.  I would also look at scheduling time to hunt moose during the rut.  You know where the goats are for the most part.  I think the moose is the most difficult to locate because of their range and the access to private land.  Just my two cents on how I would approach a season of a lifetime.
Dreams are forever on the mind, realization in the hands.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over the lack of scouting for moose. By Nov. 1st all but maybe a couple tag holders will be tagged out so you will likely have all kinds of guys offering to let you know where they went and saw. The leaves will be falling off the trees so looking through them will be much easier, and about that time of year the bulls start grouping up together again, making them easier to locate as well. Last year the later it got the more bulls we started spotting. A lot of the Gov. tag moose holders didn't even start hunting until Nov, there is a reason for that so relax, you will be fine :twocents: ;)

Not to mention all the money Dad shelled out for you to get to this point ;) I'm assuming Dad will be coming along on the hunts? :chuckle:

 :yeah:

With that in mind, as well as the fact that you can essentially hunt the entire season, I would not settle on a goat by October 1 if you haven't find a trophy yet.  Keep hunting into October, you will definitely be able to find a bull moose come November.
