Knight Disc Elite 209 Conversion
« on: June 08, 2024, 09:18:16 PM »
I'm looking at converting my .52 Disc Elite to use 209 primers and get back to hunting elk with ML.  There's been some great information shared here, but what I'm wondering is for those that have tried both the bare primer and the FPJ conversion with the bare primer adapter...which do you like best and what do you recommend?

Thanks!

I haven't personally tried the bare primer 209, I did the red plastic jacket 209 conversion on a disc extreme, the gun flat out goes bang every time, unlike the musket ignition it had prior to the swap...

Thank you for the response!  I've had trouble with the musket caps in the past so this is great information.  I had to back my breech plug out a full turn or the I couldn't get the musket caps to ignite.

Imo the bare primer set up is the way to go. The bolt inserts and extracts the primer. Its just simpler and easier.

Yep, no problem! Can always try the offset nipple for your musket cap to, hammer hits the cap more on the side instead of dead on, it helps, but 209 is th way to go!

I have a .50 disc extreme.  I went from musket cap to Red plastic jacket and then to bare prime.   Bare primer is all I use.    The advantage with the bare primer is you can either shim the inside of the primer pocket with SS washers or use a heat resistant o ring to elimate all the blow back.

bare primer is the way.  I've used both plastic jackets and bare primer and bare primer is just a simpler system.

exactly all my knights are bare 209 and they always go bang and you don’t have to worry about the jackets
