Nothing for me, but they did give me 2 elk points. This happen to anyone else? I did have a buddy get the Mt. Emily premium elk tag though.
Happened to me as well.  Maybe because I accidently purchased a non-resident fishing license :)
I'm going to say it's because we're all good guys and deserve a boost.  :chuckle:

Awesome. I have hunted that unit a handful of times for archery elk and seen some solid bucks

Father-in-law drew archery bull for Sumpter and wife's best friend drew rifle bull for Sumpter and both are counting on me to come over and hunt with them.  Even if (when) I don't get drawn for this state, I can hunt with them at least.

So I got that going for me, which is nice.

My 78 father drew NR Pole Creek muzzleloader elk.  Will be traveling to scout likely getting to end of his hunting career and hopefully this hunt will be good use of his Oregon elk points. If anyone has any insight or recent experience in Heppner area I would greatly appreciate the inpu. Been many years since I was last in Heppner unit
And able to draw a tag

I drew a Bighorn Sheep tag. Lots of work to do, I know nothing about sheep hunting. I do live very close to the hunt area so that is a bonus. I've seen sheep when I've been down there chukar hunting
what in the wild wild world of sports???

I burned my Oregon points and drew a Sled Springs Rifle bull tag. I couldn't wait another 6 years to draw it for archery.

Which sheep tag did you draw?

The archery hunt isn't what it used to be. Talked to guys that had it 5 years ago and it was jurassic Park. One guy called in 30+ bulls. Same guy drew it off luck last year and couldn't find a single bull that wasn't on private. I've been holding out for sled spring as well and decided it wasn't worth it.  Used my points on Snake River rifle. I got my work cut out for me now.
