Deer tags
« on: November 24, 2024, 10:19:58 PM »
I've got an archery deer tag (hunted early season)

The unit I am hunting has a muzzleloader season and I see that I can bow hunt during muzzle loader season in Wa.

The question I have is can I continue to hunt using my current archery deer tag or do I have to get a new muzzleloader deer tag even though I'm using a bow?

Unless you have a Multi-season tag, you are limited to the season that you have a tag for.

What you are seeing is the ability to hunt with a lessor weapon.

For example, with a modern tag, both muzzie & bow can be used during modern seasons.

During muzzie season, a muzzie tag holder can use a bow, (ie: a lesser weapon).

If you tried to buy a muzzie tag it would be denied because you chose archery, thus you already have your deer tag for 2024.

Draw a Multi-season next year and if you buy it, you can hunt all three seasons, just still limited to one deer.

The answer to your question is no and no. You can't hunt that muzz season with your bow unless you have a muzz or multi tag, and you can't get that muzz tag because you have a bow tag.

Probably also worth noting if you want to hunt multiple seasons the application period for multi season tags is earlier than the special hunt applications, deadline is usually sometime in march.

The answer is yes, you can continue to hunt with your archery deer tag. As long as you're in a unit that has an archery season. And as others have already said, you can't buy another deer tag. You can only buy one.
