Taneum Elk Hunt
« on: June 13, 2024, 07:56:52 AM »
Congrats to everyone that drew special tags as I have seen a few threads pop up around here, but figured I'd start a targeted thread on potentially getting a small group hunt together. I was one of the lucky who drew special tag and drew cow elk EF Taneum (336) for this fall. Looking if anyone else hunts the area and wants to tag up as the general season will be ongoing plus predators as well. One member from here will already be tagging along as well. If you're interested hit me up.......especially if you know the area  8). Until then the scouting work begins. Good luck everyone.

I drew a Taneum cow tag as well but mine is a muzzy tag, otherwise I would gladly take you up on your offer. As of now it looks like I'll be a solo amigo which is fine but company, especially with an elk down, is always nice.

Hey Angus,

My hunting partner and I drew Taneum cow Muzzy as well. Holler if you need some help packing something out! Heard they did some logging up there last year. Hunted there in the past, but need to check things out. Watch out for dirt bikes on the weekends as the trails are full of them!

might be tough to help with the pack out. Your hunting two different seasons

@jason stevens Sounds like you've got a good bead on the herd out there. Hopefully we'll cross paths if nothing else to tell me I'm right area :)

I drew the late archery cow tag. Just curious if they hang out in the same area that late in the season or do they move somewhere else?

There's a good possibility.  I've been hunting this unit for 30 years. Always the same are right on the border with 340 never hunted up high

That's comforting to hear, because I was planning on staying over to that side of unit as I have hunted 340 before as well and was banking on the elk making their way that way for wintering grounds eventually too.
