I have three Browning BAR 270's and one BAR 300 mag. Seems to me that I am usually reaching for the 300.

It doesn't matter what cartridge I choose. I never bring one home.

I always take my .270 Win when I hunt the east side.  More than enough.

6.5 PRC/147 ELD-M.
I’ve killed 8 deer with this combination, I used to just use the 28 nosler for everything. The 6.5 prc is prefect for deer at mid ranges

I shot my spike elk at 500 on the dot with that combo last year

Whatever I’m carrying! Probably used a dozen different calibers over the years.

26 Nosler, 270 Win. Mag., or 7mm. Rem Mag.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Not trying to be a smart ass, I have never hunted MD (only killed WT and BT). Does it really matter?

Nope! Carry what you are most confident in and that you shoot the best. Deer aren’t that hard to kill if you do your part and put the bullet where it needs go.

Choosing between calibers is like choosing between blondes. brunettes, and redheads. Whichever is in my hands at the moment is my favorite.  :chuckle:

I shoot the same gun for everything, that way there is no forgetting the ballistics. My .300 Weatherby has been in my hands every year since 1982, lots of Mule Deer, Blacktails, Whitetail and Elk have hit the dirt from this gun.

Something light weight and pack a .22 because in this state you know your chances of getting a buck are slim so you might as well pick up a grouse or rabbit while out there,
