Currently a 6.5 Creed Tikka T3x Lite Stainless chopped and threaded 5/8-24 to 18" for a dead air nomad TI. Factory Hornady 143 ELD-X rounds and looking through a Maven RS1.2 mounted with UM Tikka rings.

.223 clone is in progress but with 1/2-28 threads shooting black hills 77gr TMK's. Looking for a 5.56 specific suppressor for that setup...then it will be used wherever it's legal.

The RS special!

Boys and their toys!?!

I have to ask, there seems to be very little love for the 25-06 on this forum. Am I under gunned? Do I need to go out and get me something with a little more umph? Is the 25-06 already so outdated that it's considered retro and weak? I mean, every deer I've shot hit the ground within a few feet of where it was standing when hit. Most had very little blood shot, except the one I hit on the shoulder. That one was ugly, but not as ugly as that time I was present when a buddy shot a Mulie 3 point with a 300 WinMag, holy smokes, I asked him if he wanted me to just go grab the meat grinder now?
The 25-06 has done everything I've asked of it. Blacktail, Whitetail, Mulies, Antelope, Caribou, a few Grouse and a Coyote or two. You can load with bullets from 75 to 120 grain bullets that are getting out there at 2800 to 3200 feet per second. It's the perfect deer gun from 25 to 400 yrds and honestly, just a joy to shoot. I don't know what more you can you ask for?
It started out as my grandfather's Springfield 1903 30-06. Since I already had my father's Springfield 1903 30-06, no one needs two identical rifles, right? With a new barrel, new composite stock, nice Vortex scope, it's been my deer getter since 1992. I'm not sure how it would feel heading up the hill without it. Probably feel like I was forgetting something.
Anyways, just felt like the 25-06 needed a little PR in this sea of 6.5MM, 7MM, 8MM and 30 caliber lovefest.

25-06 is fine, I have one.  It's just been lost in the "newer is better" marketing hype.  The outdoor industry can't survive on letting people think all you need is the gun you got.

Though very capable to a degree the 25 cal has been largely forgotten and even dismissed because they lacked heavier high BC bullets but with Berger and Hornady finally stepping up and making some mid 130gr 25cals with G1 BC's of .650 they have become legitimate long range shooters.  A 25-06 w/134 ELD-M vs 6.5 PRC w/147 ELD-M have nearly identical ballistics except the 25-06 does it with less recoil.

I think if Hornady were to ever do a 25 Creedmoor or 25 PRC and they got someone like Tikka to get on board along with them you'd see a pretty significant increase in interest for the 25 caliber.

Yes

But it is a 25/223 caliber .
Pretty much a 25 caliber bullet ,jammed into a 223 case.
Muzzle velocity right around 2850,with an 87 -100 grain bullet.
If you throat shoot em ,it's perfect. Less than 100 yards, works pretty well.

I've done the 303 Brit, 30-06, 243 and 308. I settled on the 6.5X55 Sweed since I don't sport a man bun.  :chuckle: It's been getting the job done since the late 1800's.

Tough call. Today I will say .280 rem. That being said, I will be carrying my .300 Weatherby this season. Depends on the country.

Win .270 every year since my dad gifted me the rifle as high school graduation present. One shot. One deer. Anything under 400 I’m very confident and I’m slinging 150g bullets out of it. Most factory deer stuff is 130 or less it seems these days but I like a little extra when it lands.
Good times only!

You know you can buy a clip on man bun.

Order early as they're getting scarce with hunting season just around the corner.

308 Winchester out of a Ruger American usually shooting terminal ascent. It's the sweet spot of power, recoil, cost and availability.
