I used to use a .257 Roberts, but for the last 20 years I have just used a .270.  Never had to put a second shot into one.  I can also find the ammo at just about every store that sells ammo.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

From Alabama to Alaska I've shot every big game animal with my Rem 7mm mag if gun hunting. Made in 1967 and given to me from my grandfather

I think the one rifle I'd like to build and use before I hang them all up is a 25-40. If I didn't already have 128 projects in process, 162 on the shelf and a wife, I'd have already started pestering my gunsmith about a barrel, begun working up loads and purchasing all of the rest of the parts needed to build the second best deer rifle ever.

280AI with a 145 LRX

If I start hunting areas without the potential for 400+ yard shots I'll use a 7mm-08 with a 139 LRX.

.300 wsm with 180 gr. Accubonds at 2950 fps. Very minimal meat loss and farthest out of the 4 deer so far with it went about 10 yards. Suppressor coming next.
