I drew Quality Alta rifle. I know it's not the same as it was, as has been said repeatedly on here over the last decade, but it's still a late mule deer tag in beautiful country with a handful of other hunters. The genetics are still there too.. Was my 2nd choice behind Chiwawa, but I will take it.

I also drew an antlerless deer tag in my home unit, 621, but I will probably be turning this one back in for points restoration unless fire season ends up brutally bad in the Alta. Nice to have choices I suppose.

Congrats everyone! So excited for all the kids getting drawn. What an awesome experience to get them further hooked on hunting!

I also drew a blue mountain west buck tag! Good luck to you and i hope we can share some big buck stories.  I had doe tag last year and saw some great bucks.  You got access to private land at all?

I have no access and no intel at this time besides what I can find from old threads on this site. But I plan to take the last week of the season off and hit it hard. Should be a really fun hunt.  Novembers my favorite time to hunt.

it’s a big area with several units. There is plenty of ground to hunt that holds big whiteys. Blue tongue a couple years back has took a toll but you should be able to find a decent buck. Lots of ffth and stated ground. You never know what will be lurking around that time of year. Good luck!

Hope the blues are better for you tag holders this year than it was for us last year.
A lot less feel free to hunt land than 4 or 5 years ago. Getting permission on hunt by permission land was impossible for us. Saw a few deer but nothing like when I had the tag the first time.

No doubt there are some nice bucks around. But best do your homework and make contact with landowners as soon as possible. Don't be afraid to hunt high!

Wishing you all incredible luck. I was really disappointed in the overall herd health last year. Would love to see it bounce back somewhat this year and see you guys pull some stud bucks out of there. I absolutely love that area!

I wouldn’t expect to get permission. There’s plenty of available land. I find things like permission are a bonus but not something to rely on. I have seen white tail at some very high elevations in the blues .

Pogue whitetail buck tag
Drew that tag in 2019. Didn’t know the area but since I was retired I was able to hunt alot of the season. Saw some small bucks and missed a beautiful 4 point on the day before the last day of the season.
