Your Killing me! I'm gonna be over there scouting in a couple of weeks. Gotta get one of these big guys figured out for the Rifle Tag! If you find one you can chain to a tree I would appreciate it. I promise to feed it every day. Nice pics

I'll see what I can do steely, we saw some very nice bulls tonight, just couldn't get organized with the camera in time.  The one in the pic already has a collar on it, so I'll just put a leash on that one for ya!

I pretty much cover all of the Chinook pass drainage, I'm lucky and get a lot of time to goof off in the mtns.

MY scouting won't help me much, didn't draw squat, but hopefully we can fill some bull tags for some clients.

Hey norse do them guys still run sheep up there by Lindsay camp (handicap road on 1600)?  I used to hunt exclusively up on the back side of clover springs.  It just got too crowded for me.  Nice pics.

I have 4 buddies that drew a Goose Prairie group tag.  I told them that I would hike into apple and pear lake to set up camp.  But they are a little apprehensive (scared) even with a couple of horses.  Where do you think these 4 knuckle heads/friends of mine should scout out with the best chance of them at least getting a chance at 4 shots?

Matt,
You should redo your above statment,  4 in the group is correct,  with one pushing hard to go pack in on this hunt with horses,  and the others are apprehensive.   :bash: :bash: Last thing I want to do is hunt the Nile with the crowds around Lindsey camp and clover springs.  :bdid:  I am trying to get a pack in deal with an outfitter for us,  hopefully if I swing a deal that is affordable the others will go for it.  Hate to waste my chance at finally getting a big bull.   :IBCOOL:

Valid point,  wasn't looking for a guided trip and I know the others would not pay that kind of money.  Distinct possibility for me doing it alone tho,  thanks.

PM sent to Norse for info....

Hey guys, let me try to answer some of the questions for ya.  First, it's very hard to say " go here and there is a big bull" because during the rut the bulls move a lot and cover a lot of ground...that being said, I usually find good bulls in the same areas year after year though.  Second, don't be too scared off by the crowds and the roads...I see A LOT of nice bulls within spitting distance of major roads where you hear 10 diesel pickups an hour go by.  The elk are born and raised with vehicles, they don't know any different, so for the most part they don't pay any attention to them.  An example: that last pic of the big bull with the collar, was taken from my jeep idling in the road.  The bad thing about the crowds is the elk can get bumped around a lot and having other hunters stumble into your set up sucks, but to avoid that is just hunt the little pockets of good cover that the "average, lazy" hunter wouldn't walk into.  As far as pricing, yes we are doing a 10% discount for hunt-wa members, and we are very flexible on our hunts from fully guided with meals and lodging to just day hunts or even just drop camp hunts it's totally up to the hunter.  We are here to help hunters make the most of there bull tags because they are hard to get, we are not here to make our fortunes....believe me we are not getting rich...we just love to hunt elk!

So, keep firing away with the questions and comments, we appreciate the feed back.  If you want some more specifics, p.m. me.  Thanks and good luck!

The pic is from last season, his first elk ever!

I wont be able to hunt elk again until 2012 or 2013 but when I do I'll have about 8 points so I should get drawn.  If that's the case I promise I will give you a call.  If I pay for your services (there is no way around it, that just sounded wrong :chuckle: ) would it cost extra if my little brother came along to film?

You just ruined my day I had planed on taking my three buddies to apple and pear lake for the same hunt. They are pumped and are going to spend every possible minute hunting when the season starts. I am going to haul them in because they don't have horses and I will come back for them later. I will leave my sat phone with them if they need me any sooner.
