Prince of Wales Bears
« on: June 15, 2009, 11:53:47 PM »
Wife, buddy, and I just returned from POW Island yesterday.  Only had four days on the island, but we saw 19 bears, and managed these three for the meat locker.

Eddie's bear (#1) was taken 20 minutes into our initial drive on the island, squared 6'8" and should score near 21" on the skull.

My wife's bear (#2) was taken on a beach on day three.  It measured 7'4" and green scored over 22" (by the sealer).  It was a HUGE bear!

My bear was taken on the last day as a tag filler.  We saw many nicer and bigger bears, but my effort on the trip was for my wife.  Once she filled her tag, I took the first boar I could find.  He squared 6' even and had a green skull of 18 7/16".

Not bad for a 4-day vacation.

Well done - Nice 3'fer on bears.  There's no shortage on POW but finding them in the spring without being so rubbed out is difficult.  It's a great hunt nontheless and you guys/gal did well!

Nice.  Was this a DIY trip or guided?  Looks like a lot of fun....would love to do that some day.

It was a DIY hunt with zero previous experience in Alaska.  We learned a TON on this trip, and we're planning on going back in a year.

Very nice bears!!  Good job on filling tags with quality animals.

However, I want to know about that maple stocked rifle, specifically the stock!!!  Who made it, how much does it weigh?  etc..
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
