You might consider putting some sort of heat/debris shield under your scope. A lot of hot gases and chucks come out of that slot. Even wrapping some aluminum foil underneath will help.My Bighorn came with a 2-piece rail. I guess they don’t do that anymore.

My Bighorn is over 15 years old...maybe they hadn't started shipping with the mounts yet. She only looks young because of the fresh makeup.
I put the Murphy on mine, works great with the Seekins Rings and RDS.
Let me know when you're tired of that crappy old Big Horn.

If you have a Bighorn, I’d start with the 300gr poly tip and 100gr of Triple 7. Proved to be perfect for the muzzy, just get it dialed. We dialed in the open sights, then mounted the scope. Was way easier and more accurate than I had guessed it was going to be.@M_ray

That would hinder my latex glove waterproofing technology.

The tricky part comes down to the shooter doing their part with modern muzzies. I want to put a scope on one of my bighorns. I like the looks of the two piece mounts. Not a fan of the single piece rails getting in the way of the breach. That would hinder my latex glove waterproofing technology.
