There are still a few Core 4 pants available on Ebay. I haven't found anything I like as much as the Core 4 element highlines, but I'm also too cheap to pay more than 50 bucks for a pair of pants unless they are actually waterproof. At the end of the day, Nothing is going to keep you dry like PVC. Side note, costco travel pants are the bomb for early season hunting and scouting. 20 bucks vs whatever the big boys want for their name brand click bait pants. Plus you look styling too.

Not familiar with your original pants, but only use KUIU and Sitka pants myself

Kuiu Attack pants are pretty legit. I mostly use them middle of Oct on. Archery hunting, I've been using Wrangler Cargo Flex pants. They are extremely comfy and super cheap($25). They don't hold up like the Kuiu or Sitka but you can but 6 pairs for the cost of 1 and they are more comfy for my build.

Sitka gives veterans pro pricing, 40% off, even on sale pricing, with a DD214. The Sitka Ascent pants have articulated knees for easier climbing and are on sale right now for $99 retail. Tough pants. I've had mine for a few hunting seasons and they're fine.

For wind I layer up and use my rain gear over the top to keep wind from cutting into your insulation layers

If you like the core 4,  you will love the Timberline.  For rifle hunting and mid October on I haven't found a pair I wear more. Not a go to if it's warm and active, and they are not as quiet if bowhunting, but for what your describing they would be great. Mine have all held up real well, and seemee sized similar to the core 4,  with IMO an improved fit.

Hit up Cabelas in Post falls today after work to check some gear out . Tried on a few different sizes of Sitka Mountain pants and a pair of the Traverse just because . Pretty nice pants , but why do they feel the need to make the crotch so dang long ?
