Remington 1100 magnum
« on: July 08, 2024, 11:07:04 PM »
A friend is wanting to part with his, it’s in great condition. Any opinions on these shotguns?

They're great shotguns.  They don't always cycle 2 3/4" target loads with the factory barrels, but you can put one from a standard 1100 on them and they'll work fine for that.  Most came with 30" full choke barrels.  I've scored a couple of 3" steel shot barrels with screw in chokes over the years, so I use mine for duck hunting mostly.

Parts seem kind of hard to find right now with Remington gone out of business and back again (I think they have plans to bring the 1100 back though).  Then again, there's millions of them out there and the only difference between a magnum and a 2 3/4" gun is the action sleeve, which you'll probably never wear out.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

The Rem 1100 is probably one of the softest shooting shotguns I've ever shot.  I've always been a fan of them.

I love mine. I’m not sure what the magnum is, mine shoots the 3” shells & is a single shot w/ 2-3/4”. I love the gun though. Haven’t used it for a bunch of years since I got my Versamax. Picked it up last week & was surprised at how heavy it is compared with the bigger Versamax. Made the comment that I couldn’t believe I used to pack that thing all over creation shooting birds!
