Son's first permit, youth any deer GMU 149
« on: July 15, 2024, 08:30:59 AM »
My son has drawn his first permit at 10 years old. To say he's excited is an understatement. His permit is for any deer in GMU 149 Prescott.  We've made one scouting trip to the unit so far and plan on returning soon. Anyone willing to provide any insight or suggestions on hunting this unit would be greatly appreciated. My son is determined to turn up his first buck this year. He tried hard for a general season buck last year but ended up happily filling his first deer tag/youth doe tag on his 5th day of hunting (proud dad moment!). Thanks all!

I put my 10 year old in for that tag as well but he wasn’t as lucky.  Plenty of deer around, and if he had “any buck” last year he could’ve had a couple shots.  Get the windfarm permit and you’ll be fine.
