My son was selected for youth antler less elk in the 178 and 145 GMU. we have never hunted elk, but know this area half decently. My younger son has an antlerless deer tag for this area too, however we arent too concered about deer since we hunt this area for deer and do ok'ish. We werent expected to hunt elk in this area since originally my 14 year old wasnt selected for anything, but after the WDFW messup two weeks ago, he happened to get selected.
weirdly enough when we deer hunt, we just dont really scout for elk or try to find any. Just wanted to see if anyone was willing to share some pointers, maybe general topography or loactions were alk may hang out in these areas. we'll start doing some serious scouting in september and early october. Our plan in to go out there the second weekend of the season. Hopefully i can connect with some landowners there this summer as well.
