Those white chest blazes really reminded me of the Asian black bear, closely related to our American black bears.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_black_bear
I've never seen a blaze quite like that on an American black bear!

Thanks for sharing, Pathfinder, and congratulations to your son!

On the way to the tree stand. I have seen him on camera but, haven't seen him in person.

He was a bowling ball with a pretty big head. I’m guessing at least 4 years old

I've been striking out all month.

I came into some red huckleberries near a creek. Do bears eat these?

Red Hucks.  I would figure bears would eat them.  I was just reading about grizzlies loving the blue variety.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

Red hucks?  Didn’t know that, thanks for the course correction gentlemen. I stand corrected Dana and CT.

Red Huckleberries exist on the wet side from sea level on up. I got them in my yard at a little over 300 feet in elavation.

Then I finally got a chance yesterday on a really nice bear. This bear had a solid layer of fat and good size. 253# gutted estimated around 290# total. Perfect bear. They get a little To hard to move around when they get bigger then this.
