Inside bouy 10
« on: August 06, 2024, 04:49:39 PM »

From 0830 till 1500 fishing the river
Only seen two other boats this AM. And two this afternoon. Launched Oneida Deep river fished down past the Astoria Bridge. Zero caught running triangle flashers and stuffed plugs. Very few fish on the finder. Thinking they must have  passed through. Expected  to see more boats and people fishing. Anyone  else  out this morning?

So, what a difference a day makes, kind of,  we were out there yesterday Wednesday 07 Aug (day 2) and there was a bunch (s) of boats out there. I had two get on....and off. When did not catch any. But, I did see another boat landing one. Boats on both sides of the bridge, we were one the up riverside.

Coast guard was out training or body recovery.

There are only so many sunrises left.

If you were fishing above the bridge, you weren't fishing where the bulk of the fish were unless you fished in the evening.  They come in (and out) with the tide.  I wouldn't be up at the bridge until closer to high tide.

Made my first B-10 trip of the year yesterday, started above the bridge from Shipwreck to Blind Slough and would of had it all to ourselves if it weren't for the other 500 boats, saw a few nets fly and cnr'd a tule before heading down below the bridge around 9. Made 6 passes from the church hole down toward Ilwaco and had 1 salmon bite on each pass and brought 3 to the boat, one beautiful 22-24lbs URB that had an extra fin and another tule before finally finding a clipped URB of about 14 pounds. spent the last hour above the bridge for a couple drive-bys and called it a day around 2.
Will be back Sat with my 81 year old mom and nephew, should be fun, she always seems to catch big fish and he's never caught a salmon.
