Local Gunsmith to rechamber my 300 SAUM to 300 WSM
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:20:13 PM »
Hi All-

Does anyone know of a high-quality gunsmith in the Seattle area (or WA state for that matter) that can rechamber my 300saum to 300wsm?  I've found gunsmiths who will do this but they are all out of state...

thanks!
tim

Dan Cowan in Renton.
Angie Butrick, AKA thesightman, used to be near Renton, I think he may have moved east.
Maybe contact DJ's in bothell.
I know they do some work.
Also Stan Baker Sports.
Hope this helps.

Just curious, wondering why you are changing to a nearly identical caliber. I know the wsm is more popular but ballistics wise there is no difference at all.

Try Terry Murphy in Bonnie Lake he owns a small store called gunstocks (custom gun stocks are his specialty, but he does alot more).

Yeah, I'm changing due to ammo availability and the friggin high cost ($50+ for 20) of the 300 SAUM.  As much as I would like to get into reloading I just don't have time between work, (hunting) a newborn and a 8yo!

I love the 300saum, and I really don't want to rechamber but... the cost to rechamber is around $150 and I can get 300wsm just about anywhere.  And the price just keeps coming down on the ammo.  It will soon be about half of what 300saum ammo is.

Thanks guys,
tim
