This Year's Hatch
« on: August 03, 2024, 11:10:58 PM »
After squeaking 5 or 6 adults into the aviary the last few years, I have high hopes for good numbers this year.

31 hatched so far. Homemade stock, started many years ago as Georgia Giants from Wadley.

Thought a few of you might enjoy the pics

Thanks for sharing! I have been looking at getting some Tennessee Reds or some French red leg partridge and raising a hundred or so to turn loose on my place.

I had a lot of problems at first and was advised to switch to the Georgia Giants as they are more docile. Unsure if it was that or just gaining experience that allowed me to succeed.

I wish I could get them to stay around free range, but have never tried releasing them in large numbers. Mostly because of our famous Castle Rock baldies.

Great little batch of bobs! Good work. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about what you're doing with raising gamebirds, I am no expert but I have learned a LOT the hard way over 25 years of raising them. Some years are definitely better than others!

@LDennis24 French red legs are getting tougher to find every year. The Tennessee reds should not be too tough to find.
