I have never skinned a bear. It took me a few trys to get a buck caped right. I found is is best to just take my Taxidermist on hunting trips with me and have him do it right in the field. Kris
I think 4 of the most common mistakes I see when people skin out a Bear for a rug are;1. Cutting to low or to high across the chest when they are making the incision from one front paw to the other.2. Cutting from the back foot through the genitil area to the other back foot. Instead of cutting from the back of the foot to the butt hole and than to the other back foot.3. Starting there incisiong on the legs from the side of the foot. Start your incisiong from the back of the foot!4. Removing to much skin when they remove the male parts on bears. This takes away from the flank area on rugs. Don't cut big circles around them like your afraid to touch them. For a Rug cut right up through the center of them (For guys if you have to cross your legs while doing this it might help). If your not sure if you want to do a Life Size cut to one side as close as you can.
