Wall tent cleaning -Seattle
« on: September 04, 2024, 03:44:59 PM »
I pulled my 14x16 wall tent out from storage and discovered it’s in pretty poor shape. Structurally it’s sound, but it has extensive mildew and possibly mold. I’m looking for a shop that can clean this tent, I am in the Seattle area.
Willing to drive if I have to.
Anybody done this? What kind of $$ am I looking at?

I hope this doesn’t come across as mean, but his is something you need to do yourself. You can kill the mold & mildewwith some vinegar, water & a soft bristle brush, but the stain is in the canvas forever. Using some bleach water can lighten up the stain some, but it’ll still be visible. Here’s some how to: https://www.davistent.com/about-us/faqs/

If you’re intent on paying someone to do it, if you can find anyone, which will be tough, you’ll be money ahead to throw it away & buy a new one. It’s tedious work that takes a long time.

Now is the time. Good weather, set it up and work on it. You don’t have to do it all in one day. But now is the time while you have good weather. After you get it clean leave it up for two or three days. Take it down mid afternoon making sure it’s dry.

If you decide to clean it. I suggest you put it on the frame with no legs. And clean the top with a  medium brush, sweep and vac off. No water

Then put the legs under it and work on sides and ends. No water just dry brush and sweep, vac.
You probably have a mess inside too.

Next day rinse off, then go to work where you need to with whatever solution you decide on. Rinse everything you put on it well. Let dry direct sun ,repeat as needed. If it were me I would plan this has a two week project depending on how much time you have. Watch the weather.

This is part of why I love my alaknak. It's a lighter material but it dries and cleans way easier
