Temps should cool pretty well, hang your quarters in the shade with good air. You can bone it at leisure in camp, not in the field.  That much lose meat is a real pain to cool and deal with.   

Sorry about your health and I am glad you finally drew.  My Dad never did.

I think I found a meat place to store and cool the meat so we can do some bear, turkey, and grouse hunting while we are there. Sorry to hear that your Dad did not get to go. The same with my Dad, but I am sure he will be there in spirit with me.

Good luck to you!  I wish I knew more about the area to share with you, but I don't.

When my Dad was in the hospital last year for a one to 2 week stay for the umpteenth time fighting cancer. One of the older nurses did pretty much the same thing with the catheter, and she was really gruff with how she did it and my Dad would wince in pain.  My Mom was in the room with them during this ordeal and was not happy about it.  My Dad told me later that when the nurse was done, my Mom pulled her aside and said, "You ever treat my husband that way again, and you'll walk out of here with a bloody nose."  My Mom doesn't screw around.

Gary My wife was there with me when it happened. She is too sweet, I bet she wanted to punch her, but she held off. Still trying to heal. Still on meds, and now antibiotics.

When I got my moose there we brought the meat in and paid to have it frozen at a meat shop in Chewelah.  I also took my head to the local taxidermist to have it skinned and prepped for my taxidermist at home.  Shot mine first day and no one wanted to go home right away. Ended up kinda scary when we had a bull walk right to us on a road and we had no means to even defend ourselves. Fun times

Thanks, may be using one of those meat shops. Not worth losing an animal!

Hello, I am following along. I drew the Selkirk tag as well.  Some of you have already provided me with some glassing spots, roads to drive and camp areas.  I appreciate all of the sharing the group has done. I hope to run into some of my fellow moose tag holders.

I have the October season. Did I goof up? I thought I put that in my story that I originally got drawn for Selkirk, but the WDFW goofed up and I actually got drawn for the 117/ 49 degrees north tag.  (October)

Which shop did you use to freeze the meat? Was it quartered or deboned? Thinking with the deboned rule, you would have to infuse it all to have it. Was there any options just to cool it and what did they charge you?

Can’t recall.  It was just quartered.   But that was a few years ago.  Best to give them a call first to see what their willing to do. It didn’t cost that much.  I just had them freeze it hard so I could transport home after a few days

What else could go wrong? 2 days till season, and I am home in bed with 101 fever. Feel like crap! My brother in law is all packed, and I was almost packed. Tested positive for Covid, my fifth time with Covid, maybe it will go away quick. I am on antibiotics for an infection, I am guessing it drug my immune system down to nothing. Maybe someday I will get a break and get to go?
