Lure of the year
« on: September 13, 2024, 07:07:36 AM »
This year's winner, and it isn't even close, is the 3" spinfish.  Not sure what color that is, green and glow white something.  Coho have loved it, and they are none too gentle with it either.  Used to have more paint on it.

Time for a new leader.

I've been using the "Herring Aid" colored Spin Fish and absolutely crushing it.

I got to echo the sediments for the Spin Fish.   This year was incredible the amount of Coho on the Spin fish versus everything else I had out.   I normally have two or three go-to's that destroy Coho, but this year the Spin-Fish 4" topped everything at Sekui.   Out of Westport old reliable worked better. But definitely will add a bunch more Spin-Fish to the boat behind Pro-Troll flashers.

What do you guys use for scent or are you just using the lure itself?

I had a stellar year running Tomic plugs. Not sure I have a favorite.

Canned tuna in oil and you can add whatever additional scent you prefer. You can also put chopped up herring, sardines or even shrimp again with the added scent of your choice. Most often tuna is easiest to acquire and handle

I went to Krill oil about halfway through the Coho season and it worked great.  Just stuff a bit of cotton ball in to hold the scent then squirt a bit in, refresh every now and then.  A lot less messy.

That is what I was thinking but I certainly appreciate the response. Working on being a better fisherman, so info is so helpful.
