Wilderness bears
« on: September 07, 2024, 09:33:39 PM »
Doing a pack in wilderness bear hunt with 3 great buddies, norse peak wilderness in the big crow basin area, alittle later then we hoped but my coworkers son just getting back from overseas, this is as soon as we could make it happen with our schedules, our dates are  September 20-28th, way later then we planned, but hopefully there still out and active,  we will be predator calling like crazy and spot and stock. Cottontail distress call had always been my go to before, but was thinking about trying a bear bawler call, anybody have any luck with this call? Gonna be a hoot, were pumped!! Hopefully we have a successful bear hunt story to tell! Good luck bear hunters!!

Should have some elk action. Make sure you slip a call or two in for fun.  I’ve called quite a few bears in while playing with elk.

I would think your timing is awesome. The last few years during modern firearm deer season in the Okanogan, the bears have been very active. In fact this year, I'm adding a few days before and after the deer season to put some time into removing a bear from the hill I hunt on. Two years ago after killing my buck, I had two bears on the carcass within 24 hours. Had I not already had a Caribou and a deer in the freezer, I would have tried to add a bear. We've since purchased a bigger freezer so hopefully I can take some game off the hill again. Good luck out there!
