Hornady's new bullets.
« on: October 16, 2024, 05:38:50 PM »
Hornady is coming out with some new bullets one of them being a new crazy high BC 25 Cal 138gr A-Tip with nearly a .700 G1 & .350 G7.  :yike:

And I thought their 134 ELD-M had a lot of BC.

Good to see the quarter bores getting some love lately. Currently trying to get a 25prc put together in a timely manner, I don't think I'd hunt with the A tips but there are a few good options now with the Bergers and Hdy 134's

Only issue I see with that is that I can’t think of a .25 cal cartridge that comes factory twisted tight enough to stabilize those  :dunno:

Sure wish they’d bring back the 100gr spritzer in .25, my .250 savage really loves those.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I've heard rumors of Hornady doing some kind of 25 cal to take advantage of their 134 ELD-M and now this new 138 A-Tip but that's all it's been.

I am a little surprised they haven't already come out with a 25 Creedmoor, 25 PRC, or even a 25 GT.  If Hornady wanted to mess with Weatherby they could do a 25 PRC off of their 7 PRC which would make it a ballistic twin to the 257 Weatherby mag.

Blackjack got the ball rolling with their 25 cal 131gr bullet.  Then their deal kind of fell apart but about that time Berger had their 133/135's out and shortly after Hornady introduced their 134's.  Now Sierra has the 131 available again which I think is the exact same bullet as the old 131 Blackjack and Hornady is coming out with a 138 A-Tip so with regard to high BC heavy for caliber bullets things have never looked so good for the 25 cal world.  I know there has been a lot of new fast twist 25 Creeds, 25-284, 25-6.5 PRC, and 25 SAUM's built in the last couple years and I know of a few 25-7PRC's guys have too.

I've never been much of a 25 cal fan but got a little BC drunk looking at Hornady's 134's and have a 25 SAUM build that should be done any day now.
