Tribes hunting Elbe hills wa

So I  just recently learned but I'm trying to get confirmation i was told that the tribes regular modern firearm elk season ended the Sunday of the opener of early muzzle loader elk season. I was also told that they have the keys to open all gates that are locked to the regular public. This location im talking about is the Elbe hills just out side eatonville wa. Can anyone clarify if this is all true. I can't seem to find anything on the net. Concerned hunter

If there’s a lock on a gate I can promise you that someone has keys, tribes, non-tribes. Gates don’t mean anything these days. As for tribal hunting I think their season are pretty liberal and especially around puyallup, muckleshoot, Snoqualmie tribal lands. Not sure you what their policies are, but I am sure someone here can tell you.

I don't understand why you're a "concerned hunter". Gates can be locked for any number of reasons and people can have keys for those gates, also for any number of reasons. I have keys to locked gates because I'm a disabled hunter. Does that concern you? And who told you this about the Indians? Are you sure it's reliable info? And if so, are you sure it's having any kind of negative impact on your personal hunting experience? If you're unsure this is reliable info, have you confirmed with official sources like the DFW?

FWIW (not trying to answer for the OP)

I hunt with a Tribal fella who looks as white as snow.   He gets called on all-the-time for being in areas, carrying certain weapons, at certain times, etc.

These are mostly concerned hunters calling because they see what is interpreted as a poacher, not a legit Tribal hunter.

He takes it as a positive.  Guys are looking out for the resource, and he appreciates that, and so do I.

Some years back but I knew a Tribe member that told be he had keys for the gates. He had a ring with probably 50 keys on it.
Since there are Tribal agreements in place I have no issue with it.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was trying to decide whether or not to hunt behind the gates if it had already been hit hard, maybe he knows where the elk go after being hunted hard and pushed out of the area behind the gates and was trying to decide where to hunt.
  If it's only about how he signed the post, triggered easily?

Nope, not a bad day. These threads frequently turn into Indian bashing, rarely based on actual data or facts. We have hundreds of such threads. He's "concerned" because he heard that Indians have keys to unlock all of the gates but not the regular public. How does he know this? He was told. I was told yesterday that the Earth was flat. I did some research and decided not to post it to the interwebs.

Some people ask questions to be educated or enlightened on the subject. In turn that question gets flipped to be tribal bashing rather than just have the question answered and move on. They have tribal rights and just because someone doesn’t agree with some of them or doesn’t know all their rights doesn’t make them a basher!! Do these threads get out of hand absolutely but not all.

We may be at the point now where it benefits sportsmen for tribes to have keys. Hopefully point Elliot Tibal signers start running hounds on areas they can to reduce the overall impact. Sportsmen might be able to make the most impact by encouraging tribal members to hunt cats. I have had mixed feeling on certain tribal harvests. I now belive that tribal harvest of predators might be our only hope.

Well it is a fact that the tribes have access to lands via motorized vehicles that the general public cannot even access on an electric bike. I'm not basing this on a second hand report. This is first hand on state land near Ashford that I had hiked into and run into tribal members driving the rds. We had a conversation and they told me they had access to pretty much everything in the area. There  is also a chunk of land near mineral managed by green diamond that the squaxin tribe has sole access to. It is frustrating to the general public to be denied access to these areas as well as being micromanaged by the state. Not much we can do unless we can convince the dnr to open all areas up to the general public so we all can enjoy the resources we pay for🤷

Most of the gated roads up there are pretty short stretches. They provide some escapement, but all that ground is easily hunted on foot.

I'm certain people dumping garbage and stolen vehicles is the main reason behind the gates up there. It is the first big chunk of public ground for all those coming from Spanaway Puyallup Tacoma etc.
