Kettle Falls June 29
« on: June 19, 2009, 11:31:09 AM »
I've never fished the area and we'll be on a houseboat, with a skiboat and inflatable.
I've gotten some ideas but would like any info anyone can add.
Anyone going to be in the area during that time?

Yup.
Anything accessable by the crafts we have.
No downriggers...guess that rules out Kokes.
Trolling is also not likely.
I guess smallies and walleyes.

I've caught quite a few Kokes, never on a downrigger, we use a tiny glow jig and maggot, lowered over the side.  It's an extremely light bite, but when the line gets heavy set the hook!!

I would go north from Kettle Falls, you will find lots of areas that you can anchor or tie off to the rocks in deep back eddies and cast 3/8 - 3/4 ounce tubes and jigs into the holes and cast walleye all day long. The fish will be in less than 25' of water. Dark color jigs are my choice, motor oil is a good color.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
