Manastash archery elk, looking for a report
« on: September 29, 2024, 08:50:37 PM »
I've got a muzzy cow tag in my pocket for the Manastash and I'm just wondering if I can get a report from the archery guys? don't need locations just wondering if you were seeing much or hearing much bugling? I made a scouting trip in late August and stumbled across a small herd, 7 cows and a spike, definitely hoped to find more sign and animals. Hopefully things will be better next week. Thanks
If any muzzy guys happen to come across a blue Ram 1500 crewcut 4x4 pulling a 16' trailer and a guy hunting solo, stop by and say hi, I've got beer. Probably going to be camped on Hutchins Rd below Tamarack Springs for the first couple days at least, after that  :dunno:.

I live right below the unit. From what I’ve seen they weren’t really rutty during archery. I went up last Sunday and saw a herd with a bull bugling and chasing cows. I hope you have a bear and cougar tag, plenty of those around. I have a muzzy cow tag and will be up on my ranger side by side I’ll keep an eye out for you

I've been hunting clockum for ~10 years and have never seen a bear or cougar.  I'm heading to 340/342 this year.  Are there more bears/cougars in this area?

Didn't see elk until the last 2 days and it was before legal shooting light and after dark, nothing but deer (no legal bucks) during daylight hours.
