Big Hollow burn area
« on: October 23, 2024, 09:27:32 AM »
Hey everyone.  I'm a new hunter.  This is my second season.  I was curious about the big hollow and trapper creek wilderness area for deer hunting.  I've read on this site that its not a great place because its so thick and the lack of logging has really reduced the deer in that area.  But, since it burned up a few years back, would it be worth checking out?  I'm going hunting this weekend up by marble mountain in the 560 GMU.  I have the Rayonier permit for the north side of Swift Reservoir.

Would the Big Hollow burn be worth checking out, or would I be better off going to my clear cuts above Swift?

Go to both and you'll have your answer. Both areas could be great or bad.
You won't know until you get in there and find out for yourself.

Wilderness areas dont usually have a super high animal density, more often than not. But the ones that are there tend to be healthier, and there are some absolute bruisers wandering around the wilderness. The only way to know for sure is to go there and look.
What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.

Good to know.  I wish I had a little more time to check out both.  I may just stick with the clear cuts on the Marble Mountain side of Swift Reservoir this season.  I hunted the south side last year, but even with the limited about of truck passes they sold, there was so much human activity over there, it was a total bust.  I much prefer walk in only areas.
