Just wrapped up an incredible deer season with my amazing wife.
After she joined me on a bear hunt a couple years ago, her first time ever hunting, she caught the bug and surprised me by taking her hunter safety course last year. Afterwards, we dove into the adventure together. We put in the effort that season but didn’t get anything. This year was no different—six tough days with no luck.
But we didn’t give up! On the final day of the season, (yesterday) we went to a different spot my sister in law and her husband told us about. At first light we spot five bucks, two of which being legal. She made a perfect shot on her first big game animal and after a short stalk, I dropped the other.
This is a special year for us as we just got married in August and we are moving to Idaho. I'm sure we'll be back for some Washington hunts, but doubling on what is potentially our last year for a while hunting in Washington, we're thrilled.
I can’t express how proud I am of her determination and skill behind the rifle. She was cool as a cucumber.
