Alkali Cow Tag
« on: October 29, 2024, 07:02:09 PM »
I drew an Alkali cow tag. My soninlaw knows where the elk are out there and knows most of the training center pretty well.  I have a built in guide.  BUT he sent me a text this afternoon and he is not going to be able to go with me this weekend. He is going to bring me his maps and point me in the right direction.  So I'm winging it to some degree. It has been 20 years since I have been out there and I know the maze of roads are a challenge.

SOooooooo if there is anyone around Yakima that knows the training center well and has a REC card and would want to go wack a cow with me this Saturday - shoot me a PM

I tell you this, most of the training areas are closed due to training.  Rumors are that more areas are to open around 11/15.

Good luck.

Did you happen to call the hunt hotline today?

All units less #11 were open today and the same condition for tomorrow.

It is Saturday that I am going.  Thanks for the reminder to call the hotline. Unit 11 is one of the units I'd be going.

The map you get is pretty good. We were able to get around all over the open units following the map without issue. The fog can set in out there, and can be the worst you've ever seen, can make it a slow trip out after dark. Follow the speed limit, and the rules, and its pretty easy to get along out there without any trouble.

Make sure your vehicle registration is up to date or they won't let you on base. Ask me how I know.
