I have seen a couple bucks show up at the house that I have not seen before, but they were not acting particularly rutty.  I am guessing they are scoping out the chicks right now.

saw about 16 does yesterday by house and 2 miles away and 0 bucks with them. I have a few at night starting to come around, but nothing mature. Still a few days away when the big ones get out and about

Buddy got a good one yesterday. First time he'd seen this buck. Mid-afternoon and dogging a doe.

Saw 12 bucks between leaving one of the restaurants and the start of my driveway tonight, got a few texts from people that said there was a really nice buck hanging out in my yard today and seen him trying to run a basket buck off when I came in tonight.

They’re definitely in the dumb phase right now, especially with the break in rain and the bright moon.

Just got to the hunting grounds today (NE corner) and checked trail cams.  Young bucks are cruising (but nocturnal)….usually a sign the rut is 3-5 days out.   No big bucks spotted, which is also what I’m used to seeing pre rut.  The big boys just show up one day when the does go into heat.

I was set up on a tilled wheat field just out of timber two days ago and had a doe, yearling doe and fawn come by. 30 minutes later here came a good buck nose to the ground right where they came by. Fatal mistake for him.  Not a monster but a good buck.  Was not seeing any scrapes 5 days before that and all of a sudden they were everywhere.  Think it is a tad late IMO

I’ve seen at least two or three good shooter buck a day for the last three days. Messed up on one and couldn’t make it happen on the others. Saw one tonight in the 170-180” range, tried to get my buddy on it when I should’ve taken the shot. The world changed overnight 😎
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

There just cruzin, establishing territory, pecking order.
Not necessarily with the doe,but not too far off.
Scraping trees and pretending,that stuff.

My Idaho hunt starts today, I'll try to post this evening with what I observe.  Hopefully it's with a good buck photo!

Currently watching 8 deer in the food plot.  Only buck is a button buck yearling.  Fingers crossed a cruising buck is close behind.

Actually working on getting my nephew his first buck / deer ever.  He got a bear earlier this year for his first big game animal.  We have through the weekend to get it done....then I get to hunt the last couple days when they go back to school.
