.270 wsm loads?
« on: January 05, 2010, 07:23:43 AM »
Anybody have any good loads for a .270 wsm?

This is close to a max load so work up to it.

Tikka T3 270wsm
140gr Berger VLD
63.5gr Reloader 17 (new short magnum powder)
Federal Match large magnum primers
3290fps
.3" 5 shot group @100yards

Great load, very accurate, no stress signs on the case or primer.  Took my buck in montana @ 415 yards.  Berger bullet performed great.

I have some 135 sierramatch kings loaded with 73gn of magpro I'm going to try this as soon as I can and see how good they shoot.

73 gr of magpro sounds like a super compressed load. You really need to watch your pressures with this caliber. I might start with something a bit faster burning than magpro like 4350 or rl 17. I'm not saying your idea isn't a good one but I would start at a lower amount of powder for sure.

I worked up to this load and it's a OK load not super great groups but, Its good enough. The load is not compressed but this is definitely MAX LOAD I would hate to try more that this.
