I finaly got everything
« on: June 20, 2009, 09:18:06 AM »
Now to bed the lug and mount the scope/rings. It will be ready to start load work in a few days.

I've been playing with ballistic calculator, that 115gr. VLD in the Roy shouldn't have any trouble hanging with my go-to rock buster a 7mag/162gr. A-Max.

I've got the rifle out of the stock right now, bedding it. I seen the fingernail polish I put on the trigger weight screw after adjusting it and snapped a picture. I adjust all of my triggers down to around 2#. A few days ago a friend was fondling my 7-08 and when he closed the bolt fast it slam fired. I took it apart and the fingernail polish was mostly gone, I didn't wait long enough for it to dry before I reassembled the rifle and the weight screw backed out, making the rifle very unsafe. I know better then to get in a hurry when working on a rifle but I guess I needed a reminder.

Remington sure makes a sharp looking rifle.  Do you plan on hunting with it this year?

After I play with the rifle some, I'll decide if it makes it into the hunting line up or not.

Very nice looking rifle, I like the simple strait grain, lots of color.

Blue LocTite, not red or green, for the trigger screws. Much more reliable.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.

I lock the trigger screw in place fingernail polish.

Thanks guys.
I dont run many wood stocks but I like the looks of this one , it looks nice but not so nice that I'd feel bad about scratching the hell out of it.
I cleaned up the bedding, reassembled it, and mounted the scope.
here's the finished rifle.

Lookin good Jamie. Be a good rifle for Idaho or Montucky, this country is perty unforgiving on wood. Nice setup though. Later

I've had a couple Remmy triggers that after I adjusted them would go bang when the safety was flipped off hard... not good. Clear fingernail polish is a good way to keep them in check.

Sweet looking rifle!

I'd love to head out with you on Saturday, but my wife is having some minor surgery on Friday so I'll be on lock-down for a week or two. Maybe we can get a run in later on in July... prep for bear season like last year. I've got a new 6-18 Mark 2 on the .300 RUM... I need to stretch it out before chasing yogi.

Strike Fast...

Josh.
I hope everything goes well for your wife Friday.
You've got a open invite so any weekend day you want to go, we'll go.
I think next Sat. I'll just run up CF. ,set up the crony and do load work on the .257

115 Berger VLD's. I figured with the high BC, they'd make good rock punchers.
I dont know much about Berger bullets and I'm not sure about hunting with them.
