It's a 2x3 with eye guards.  You guys gotta get your mule deer terminology right geesh :chuckle:

 :yeah:

I had this conversation about eye guards with another gent who swore you did not count them. I introduced him to a B&C
scorer who asked him what do you call a spike? A no point?

Were not talking about B&C Scoring.  You don't count eyeguards on mule deer because a lot of mature mule deer don't have them.  If you tell the old grizzled guy down at the hardware store that you shot a 4x4 muley, there damn well better be double-forks on it, not a 3 point with eyeguards.   :twocents:

Antler descriptions are definitely a regional thing as well as a generational thing.  Ask most guys over 60 what their deer looked like and they'll tell you how wide it was :chuckle:  They'll also call their 4x4 with eye guards a 5x5.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Nope.

Traditional dont count eye guards.

Legal ok - but no otherwise.  Meat buck at best.
Not sure what "traditional " is , but Boone and Crocket counts anything you can hang a ring on or 1 inch.

The "hang a ring on it" does apply to B&C for scoring at least where eye guards are concerned.

"For Columbia blacktail there are very few 3x3, not counting eye guards, in the record book. Speaking of eye guards, just like in mule deer, eye guards or G1s are not always present, even less so in both specie of blacktail. If eye guards are present over one-inch, they’re a bonus and will add to the final score. In some cases, eye guards can make the different in putting a buck over the minimum entry score if everything else is present."
