Moose shoulder mount
« on: November 02, 2024, 09:53:00 PM »
Ok it’s time to pick a shoulder mount form for my moose and was wonder if there was some out there you guys could show off. Going to be high on the wall probably around 15 feet up. So I’m thinking sneak or like a challenge sneak to try and tip the antlers forward. His left antler is for sure his better side so thinking a left turn so it shows that antler off better. Any pics would be helpful and feel free to and your thoughts.

That’s a cool mount and surly shows the rack off. Especially from a higher position.

There are not a lot of options for moose.  And remember they are really big.   (As in anchoring to wall, and /or getting through the front door)

That mount looks like a good choice

I have my elk anchored with 3/8 lag bolt figured that should do the job for the moose also. Guessing around 140lbs mark. It’s going to go in my families insurance office so doors and space have been accounted for that’s the reason it’s gonna be so high off the ground.

Here’s mine.

Do you know the name of the pose and maker of the form? That’s pretty much exactly like what I’ve been thinking about.

I don’t, but it was done by Jeff Sylvester at Sylvester Taxidermy in Spokane. You could reach out to Jeff, he took that photo and would probably remember. Strikes me he took a sneak with a turn and then cut it a bit to get the twist.

How high up on the wall is that? I’m worried with how high I’m going to have to go that I’m going to get into the angles of views that start to hide the antlers if I go with a classic height mount.

Ok that’s kind of what I was thinking was going to have to happen. What year was it done so when I reach out I have a reference for him?

My grandpa had to remove the big window in the living room after he had an Alaskan moose mounted!  :chuckle:
