Silver Dollar Youth Hunt
«

My son has drawn the any elk tag for this area. We haven't recieved our info packet yet. Does anyone know something about this hunt or been on this hunt? We're excited but not sure if we should get our hopes up.

Are you going to get some access from land owners. That will help a bunch.

sounds like you got it all figured out. And yes you should be very excited but be prepared to be very patient. The elk out that way are very nomadic and can be hard to find but lots of very big bulls to be found.

Haven't drawn it, but I can't wait to hear about your experience there. I put my son in for that hunt this year, but he wasn't drawn. Good luck, can't wait to hear the story...

the silver dollar is a little bar/cafe out on hwy 24 to hanford. Not sure if its all the property behind it or they have property else where. theres some big bulls out there if you can run into em.

first thing i would do is buy some good maps for that area, and make sure you know where and you can and cant go. there are several land owners around the silver dollar... martinez, roberts, linda spanding, and then to add onto that its right up next tot he firing center.... but yes there are awesome bulls out there... i get to see them very often when im coyote hunting, good luck with your hunt!!!

I'll definitly do that. The maps I have right now don't show me much. I'm sure the info pack they send will help a bunch. I just hoping my13 yr old boy gets a shot a big bull.

my son drew this tag last year, we to where very excited but where very disapointed... we got to hunt on linda norths property, very nice women, and very helpfull when we got to hunt. but thats just it she has other interest in alaska and oregon. so she is gone alot, we had to meet with her every morning and ride with her through her property to spots she had picked out to hunt, she was worried about fire on her property! can not blam her, like i said she was very nice and plesant to be with, but we only got to hunt a total of 4 days and never saw a elk! we herd about a calf being shot on the property next to her's but as far as us and the other hunters we seen and talked to never fired a shot! hope u guys have better luck, O F Y I be ready for long shots very open country, average shot (my guess) over 200 easly out to 350+ GOOD LUCK

it take a couple weeks to get your packet, it all depends on the hanford reservation and if the elk come off there
