300 savage 99 f rotary magazine reinstall issue
« on: April 10, 2026, 02:57:31 PM »
i purchased this gun to add to my collection. gun was in great shape but was pretty filthy. i read the stories about takng out the rotary magazine. had to dissasemble the whole gun to clean it.  the rotary magazine didnt look like it was ever cleaned. having problems trying to put magazine back in im guessing all savage 99's magazines go back in the same. any feedback would be appreciated if your familiar with gun thanks.

Hopefully someone has some first-hand knowledge.

I know mine could use a thorough cleaning. It predates me by a long shot and I've never had it apart.

This guy shows how, don't know if this helps. Looks tricky.

Here's another that shows reassembly around 12:25.

Charlie Kirk didn't speak hate, they hated what he said. Don't get it twisted.

Send pictures of your action

I shoot a 99 and I had rotary mag problems initially but mines flawless- grandpa bought it back in 1952

The 99 is so simple, it's stupid and it's confusing and it's frustrating.... but that's cuz it is profoundly simply and our minds are sped up so fast, 75% of the problems with a savage 99 are cuz our brains are not programmed for something that simple
